Independent Lives’ care team has won the prestigious care team award at the highly esteemed 2024 West Sussex Partners in Care (WSPiC) awards.

This significant accolade underscores the team’s outstanding dedication and innovative care to individuals across the county.

The award highlights several remarkable achievements by the care team over the past year. During the winter and Christmas period, as part of the Household Support Fund, the team distributed over £29,000 worth of food vouchers to 50 care customers and 259 families in West Sussex.

Rebecca Smicle, chief executive of Independent Lives, added:

“Winning the care team award is a testament to our team’s incredible work. It underscores our charity’s vital role in supporting disabled individuals and their families. Our staff’s unwavering commitment to providing high-quality, personalised care makes Independent Lives a cornerstone of our community.”

In addition to this remarkable achievement, two of our dedicated staff members, Chloe Page and Nerijus Ivanauskas, were both highly commended in their respective categories.

Chloe Page was honoured in the support worker category for her exceptional ability to identify and meet her customers’ needs, ensuring personalised and effective care. Her efforts have not only provided care but also enabled customers to achieve significant life goals, such as going on holidays they never thought possible, thereby enhancing their quality of life.

Nerijus Ivanauskas, highly commended in the care worker category, was recognised for his attentive and personalised caregiving approach. His quick thinking and calm leadership during a critical care situation not only demonstrated his exceptional skills and professionalism but also saved a customer’s life, highlighting the crucial role our staff play in emergency situations.

Jane Knight, head of care at Independent Lives, expressed her pride in the team and their achievements:

“I am incredibly proud of our care team and the exceptional work they do daily. Chloe and Nerijus exemplify the dedication and compassion that drives our mission. Their recognition is well-deserved, and the care team award highlights our incredible impact on our community.”
